Science & Technology Week 2018

The children of Rang a hAon and Rang a Dó were recently visited by Dr. David McGrath, a microbiologist of GMIT as part of Science Week 2018. He told the children that he studied zoology and marine biology. David spoke about the various types of seaweed in Ireland, as well as where you would expect to find them on the seashore. The children learned about wracks and kelps, and learned how to identify the characteristics of each one. They also learned about the movement of the tide and how it affects where the different seaweed is located. The children drew a type of seaweed and all the drawings together made a model of the seashore. The children really enjoyed the visit from Dr. David!
